“One of the first projects we took on was to convert the large barn on the property,” reveals Emma. “The barn has seen many incarnations over the years, from car garage to workshop to now a beautiful, light-filled open plan family space.” The couple conserved as much as they could, whilst accepting that some changes had to be made to make it work for modern life. “We were keen to preserve the traditional exterior which is clad in weatherboard, but removed the three large, sliding doors and added two large sash windows and a huge custom-made double barn door. A bank of internal casement windows was renovated and TradCo hardware was installed throughout. Its heritage feel and traditional design blends perfectly.”
Next on their list was the pool house. Both buildings share sprawling views over verdant, manicured gardens, and to honour this the rooms are peppered with accents of green. The result is spaces that relish in the tropical nature of this home’s bucolic location. The pool house is a case in point. “It’s a peaceful sanctuary away from the main home, where the family can unwind and relax amid the lush, tropical surrounding gardens, next to a sparkling inground pool,” explains Emma. “It’s a retreat to house and practise my Reformer Pilates, but it’s more than just a functional space — it offers an oasis of tranquillity, blending seamlessly into the surrounding greenery.”
In both the barn space and pool house, TradCo hardware was employed to complete Emma and Keiron’s vision; from small details like Classic Sash Lifts, Spur Catches and Long Throw Teardrop Casement Fasteners, to larger pieces like Bar Pull and Standard Pull Handles, Classic Cupboard Knobs and Classic Drawer Pulls. Porcelain Base Switches bedeck the walls, while the Reims Lever on Long Backplate’s classically shaped form makes doorways slip effortlessly into the historic surrounds. “TradCo hardware was used on the doors and windows,” says Emma. “It helps create a space that looks like it has always been here; a perfect balance of tradition and luxury.”
