TradCo, The Coach House, Home Stories, behind the scenes

Trusted craftsmanship. Certified responsibility.

At TradCo, we’re driven by detail. You’ll see it in each of our products, in our stunning range of finishes, in the quality of our craftsmanship, and every interaction with one of our quality products in your environment.

We honour the legacy of spaces, celebrating the finer period details and respecting the history of every home. Restoration is at our heart, and we love seeing spaces returned to their former glory with pieces that elevate and inspire.

More than just beautiful, our products reflect conscious choices that contribute to a more sustainable future while creating designs that last.

Every touchpoint in your space is a chance to connect with history, celebrate craftsmanship, and shape a more sustainable future.

Compostable pallet wrap on a packaged box

Compostable Pallet Wrap

In February 2025, we replaced plastic pallet wrap in our operations with a home compostable alternative certified to AS 5810, removing approximately 750kg of plastic wrap each year.

This is part of our ongoing commitment to reducing single-use plastics, and as part of a Certified B Corporation™ we will keep working to reduce our impact.

Compostable Mailers

In April 2025, we switched from petroplastic mailers to home compostable mailers certified to AS 5810 (ABAP 20201), helping to keep an estimated 13,000 plastic bags out of landfill every year. Please remove all labels before disposal.

Our mailers are suitable for home compost. Check locally before disposing via your council food and garden organics collection. If not accepted, place in general waste. Do not recycle. Do not litter.

Recycling Programs

TradCo has implemented extensive recycling programs across materials such as brass, steel, cardboard, plastics, organics, and electronics. These efforts contribute to a circular economy by ensuring valuable materials are reused and recycled rather than disposed of in landfills.

Electric Fleet Transition

TradCo is transitioning to a zero or low emissions vehicle fleet by the end of 2027, aligning our operations with broader environmental sustainability goals.

Sustainable Materials

At TradCo, we take a meticulous approach to selecting materials, considering their elemental properties, manufacturing capabilities, texture, colour, hand-feel and durability. The majority of our products are made from solid brass, chosen for its corrosion resistance and longevity, and recyclable at the end of its life. Where we can, we prioritise recovered brass. Hardware built to stay in use is hardware that does not need replacing.

Renewable Energy

As of 2025, new solar panels on our Adelaide premises generate more than a third of the site’s electricity needs — cutting around 17 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year and marking an important step in reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.

APCO Certification

Since 2019, we’ve been a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), achieving the highest performance rating of ‘beyond best practice’ in APCO’s 2025 annual report. APCO set a target to make all packaging in Australia reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2030.

The 2030 targets are as follows:

  • 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging.
  • 70% of plastic packaging is recycled or composted.
  • 50% of average recycled content included in packaging (revised from 30% in 2020).
  • The phase-out of problematic and unnecessary single-use plastic packaging.

Help us do even better by disposing of your TradCo packaging responsibly. Please consult your local council or authority to check domestic waste and recycling initiatives in your area.
